The **Sino-German Summer Workshop** aims to provide an international forum for the exchange of scientific knowledge and advancements related to the microbiota in the upper gastrointestinal (GI) tract. This workshop brings together leading researchers, clinicians, and experts to discuss microbiome interactions, their role in disease mechanisms, and translational applications for cancer treatment and prevention.

Recent studies highlight the profound influence of the microbiome on immune responses and cancer progression, particularly in gastric carcinoma, gastroesophageal junction tumors, and esophageal adenocarcinoma. Discussions will focus on the latest advancements in microbiota sequencing, bacterial mechanisms in disease, biobank studies, and novel immunotherapeutic strategies. The workshop also aims to facilitate collaboration between European and Asian researchers, fostering future multicentric studies and clinical trials.

Topics covered will include the role of Helicobacter pylori in gastric cancer, the potential therapeutic applications of microbiota, and the integration of multi-omics data for translational research. With the increasing need for precision medicine, this workshop will serve as a platform for networking and knowledge exchange to advance microbiota-based therapeutic approaches.

The workshop will take place in Munich, the vibrant capital of Bavaria, a city that seamlessly blends rich history with modern allure. Known for its stunning architecture, from the ornate Nymphenburg Palace to the iconic towers of Frauenkirche, Munich charms visitors at every turn. It's home to world-class museums, including the Deutsches Museum and Alte Pinakothek, and famous for its lush parks like the expansive Englischer Garten. With a thriving beer culture celebrated at Oktoberfest and cozy beer gardens, Munich offers a taste of Bavarian tradition. At the time of the workshop, early July, the weather is usually warm, but not yet hot, and thus is the perfect season for visiting Munich and its beautiful surroundings.
